Dosing systems

Dosing comes before mixing and often decides the outcome. If the ingredients are not weighed correctly, even the best mixer cannot produce the intended dry blend. Erk PVC Makine dosing systems are gravimetric, measuring ingredients by weight rather than volume, and run under computer control.

Powder, liquid or both?

• Automatic powder dosing system: weighs every powder ingredient from the resin down to minor additives; available in Model H and Model V layouts.
• Automatic liquid dosing system: weighs the liquid stabilisers needed for soft PVC precisely and works coupled with powder dosing.

For rigid PVC products, powder dosing is usually sufficient. On lines making plasticised products such as cable, hose, foil or flexible flooring, where plasticisers like DOP or DOTP are used, the two systems are planned together. Because each ingredient is weighed, swings in bulk density from lot to lot do not reach the recipe; our article on gravimetric vs volumetric dosing explains why that matters.

Sizing the system

To configure it properly we need to know the number of raw materials in the recipe, their daily consumption, how they arrive on site, how many mixers and extruders will be connected, and how much space and height is available for the platform. With that, the choice between Model H and Model V can be made, and dosing is handled as one project together with the mixer and the feeding line, as described in turnkey PVC mixing line.
